Endemol UK has taken a 40% stake in digital production company Pure Grass Films.
Pure Grass’ productions include mobile phone horror series When Evil Calls. Its latest series, the 20-part Beyond the Rave, is the first Hammer Films production in 25 years and debuts next month. It is co-produced by MySpace, which will premiere the first episode on 17 April.
The company was established in 2005 by former Sony Pictures director of internet and mobile Ben Grass. He runs it with his brother Tom, who wrote Beyond the Rave.
Pure Grass is the second digital company Endemol UK has invested in to date, following its 25% stake in digital entertainment producer and distributor MoMedia International Ltd in August 2007.
Endemol UK chief executive Tim Hincks and its managing director, digital media Peter Cowley will sit on the Pure Grass board.
Hincks said: “Our digital strategy is simple – we want to work with creative people who have brilliant ideas. Ben and Tom fit the bill perfectly.”
