Under the deal, Fireworks – TV distribution arm of UK-based movie sales firm ContentFilm – will gain first options on multi-platform and TV rights to future Pure Grass projects outside their commissioning window.
The development comes as Fireworks embarks on a new approach to digital content with Shadow Line (fka The Agency), putting its own funds into such a production for the first time, as revealed by C21 last month.
Shadow Line, Pure Grass’s latest effort since its copro Kirill for MSN and Hammer Horror/MySpace chiller Beyond the Rave, is an interactive drama about a CIA agent betrayed by a colleague while on a mission.
As with Pure Grass’s previous productions, the company has lined up star talent, with Joshua Dallas (Descent 2, Red Tails) taking the lead role alongside Vincent Regan (Troy, 300), Daud Shah (Casino Royale), Doug Ballard (The Dark Knight Returns) and Colin Stinton (The Bourne Ultimatum).
The 6×4′ prequel, shot in Morocco and currently in post-production, is scripted as a standalone series but is also designed to serve as as a pilot and prequel for the full 20×4′ series and feature version, for which Fireworks is currently seeking copro partners.
